Louis Vuitton Resort Collection 2008
Louis Vuitton Resort Collection 2008 is on the cover of the latest issue of Preview magazine. On the cover, as well, is Marian Rivera. She joins the roster of supermodels such as Angela Lindvall, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and top Hollywood celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Uma Thurman and JLO as image models of the luxury brand.

Last year, Marc Jacobs personally picked Scarlett Johansson for an LV campaign on Vogue magazine. Although, I doubt very much that Mr. Jacobs himself chose Marian to be the “Filipina” face of Louis Vuitton, I know sales will be down this year. At least here in Manila, that is.
Lous Vuitton has always been a pricey tag that only the rich can afford. How does one expect a nobody such as Ms. Rivera to lobby for elegance, hedonism and compulsion for ego goods? Sure, Marian is the most sought-after Pinay celebrity these days. Sure, she is pretty. Sure, she has an appeal. An appeal to whom? Maids, janitresses, garbage collectors, streetsweepers, vendors, office clerks? Can Louis Vuitton sales reps rely upon these people to buy a thousand dollar dress? NO! These people will just go to the flea markets in Greenhills where replica LVs are abound.
Allow me to take the liberty to volunteer other options for this ad.
To start off, there’s KC Concepcion (not much of a stunner but hey! she has money stamped all over her forehead and with a little bit of make-up and designer clothes, she can transform into a gorgeous belle).
And then there’s Kris Aquino, currently the top endorser of multinational enterprises such as Pantene, Pampers, McDonald’s, etc; and daughter of former President Cory Aquino. Look! She even owns an LV denim bag 
What about Ruffa Gutierrez? She is a “real-life princess” after all…I mean “was”, before she separated from the prince of Turkey.
Uhmm…Imelda Marcos? (No? Yeah, I thought so)
Honestly, I am out of options. Louis Vuitton must have ran out of options too since they decided to dress the bedraggled Marimar with designer clothes and voila!!! A supermodel(?) in less than 5 minutes!!!
Nevertheless, this has got to be the worst marketing ploy ever conceived in the long history of Louis Vuitton. And this is the perfect time to say…

I personally think Marian Rivera is sporting the cruise collection very well. She has sophisticated features which is suitable for high-end brands such as LV.
There is no reason why we should hate her for wearing and modeling luxurious clothes.

I have few LV myself, I have a nice car, I own a house in NJ, and I have a wonderful job, but hey, I love Marian Rivera. Advertisement is not about the models personal life nor status of life, its about popularity ( I should know, I’m in advertising company). Look at Tom Brady and Peyton Manning (Football Players), everybody knows that Tom Brady is way hotter than Peyton and has more money. But since Peyton won the Superbowl and MVP title he became more famous than Tom, so now you see Peyton’s face everywhere, he has at least 20 commercials this year compare to Tom who has 3 or 4. So before you criticize Marian for being the LV model, you should do your homework first and research.
…and also you mentioned about Marc Jacobs choosing Scarlett Joahansen to be the LV model, FYI Scarlett was from a suburbs in the South who lived in a two bedroom apt before she became an actress, but hey she became famous last year right but still, she is not as rich as other celeb her age, but still she she was chosen to be a LV model, so like what I said advertisement/endorsement is about popularity.

If Marian isn’t an LV endorser, then how come it was broadcasted on TV and on various sites??? And also, they could’ve just showed the details of what she was wearing (brand, price, etc.) under the pictures. Why use the LV name on the cover of the magazine? Does it not imply that they used Marian as an endorser for LV?

I saw the pictures of Marian Rivera - for LV advertisement and MARIAN was and is so far the BEST and MOST APPROPRIATE person to represent and model LV bags etc., Marian Rivera is not only STUNNINGLY & CLASSICALLY BEAUTIFUL but also very INTELLIGENT(a degree holder). THAT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH to make her an icon for the LV world. Marian personifies the whole shebang - which no one else can. PERIOD!
